Enjoy SC: Encore

Organizers of Enjoy SC will bring back some of the program's most engaging arts organizations and performers for one last series of events designed to encourage the public to gather and linger on the State House grounds. Several musicians will perform around the grounds on Wednesday, May 23rd, and on Saturday, May 26th, Soda City's Saturday market will move up Main to the 1200 block so that attendees can simply cross Gervais Street and "Conduct the Phil" with Enjoy SC. At both events, Enjoy SC's cafe tables and chairs, picnic tables, lounge chairs and kid-friendly seating will be available for attendees to enjoy.

Enjoy SC: Let's Dance

City Center Partnership will facilitate dancing with help from Capital City Shag Club and several other groups. From South Carolina’s official state dance, the Shag, to our official state waltz, the Big Apple, these groups will demonstrate the dances in various locations on the State House grounds. Attendees are encouraged to participate and learn each of these dances.

Columbia Marionette Theatre will have walk-around puppets.

Through their work with nonprofit and education leaders, local economic development nonprofit EngenuitySC has developed a deep understanding and appreciation for Columbia's history of art. To pay tribute to several dance styles born in South Carolina, they will bring dance historians Richard Durlach and Breedlove and friends will perform the Big Apple, Charleston, and Richardson Waltz.

Hosted by the Columbia Museum of Art, the Columbia Design League, the South Carolina Philharmonic, and Richland Library, this Enjoy SC event will feature About Face artists painting on the State House grounds and inviting visitors to collaborate on works of art. Attendees can also build structures with KEVA planks and participate in a scavenger hunt of architectural elements at the State House. Richland Library will have story time, crafts for children, and book giveaways through its Bookmobile. The South Carolina Philharmonic will offer its Conduct the Phil program, where members of the public have the chance to conduct and lead members of the Philharmonic as they play their instruments.
